Good Morning Good Friday!

I've become a big fan of Good Friday this year. Scott gets to stay home from work today because it is a global holiday! Good Friday! Good to be home in the morning with Scotty! We slept in, woke up in our sunny bedroom, and got excited to see Scott's parents who should be here in about four hours! We're having a lazy morning (I just learned that you get to do that when your house is all clean and you've done all your laundry and grocery shopping... something I've never before experienced). It's so great to be all caught up!

Scott's working on his essays for round two of the Foreign Service exam, and I'm making some granola to stalk up for the week. The last couple days I've gone crazy with my fruit dehydrator drying strawberries, oranges, and bananas. I loved the smell it spread through the house. While we do need more granola, I mostly wanted to make it so our house will smell like maple syrup.

It's so nice to have the time to hang out together, listen to mellow harmonica music, and enjoy our bright and beautiful home! I love Easter! I love Conference! I love my family, and we get to spend this Easter with both sets of parents. I'm so excited!

...for pictures from Andy and Jen from the big sleepover last weekend. I can't wait to see them. I wish we had taken some of everyone staying over at our house... I didn't know we could fit that many people in our little place! I'm excited to see the pictures at Snowbird and Park City. Hopefully now that they're back and situated in CA they'll get a chance to update the blog they gave up on! Or maybe just email us pictures.

...for pictures from Jon and Annie! We took a couple pictures with Matt, Loral, and Celeste at their place before they took off for Boston. Annie... if you're reading this... email me those pictures, friend! I can't wait to talk to Annie about her adventures in Boston. I'm so jealous; she's going to culinary school while Jon finishes up some schooling before med school in CA. We miss having you guys around! You definitely can host a party better than we can! We're just glad we'll have you back for another three months in between Boston and CA!

Medias or Calcetines?

We did it! We are finally settled in our new place! It feels like a real home now that the boxes are cleared out... books are in cases... frames are on ALL horizontal surfaces... and my one Thanksgiving decoration is in our kitchen. Now I just need to stock up with food in the fridge and it's official!

I cannot believe how much stuff we have. I have no clue how it all fit in our last place!! It is such a blessing to be able to move, have a little more room to put all of our toys. This apartment is going to be a fun adventure for us.

Scott is at day two of Goldman right now! Yesterday was a big orientation day. Today, hopefully, he'll get to know his team and finally figure out what he's going to be doing! I'm excited to see him excited!


So pictures are coming of the new place... but here's a little sneak peek into our strange world of moving. My entire life, my dad has teased me that I can't match my socks. I'd wear a holiday Christmas tree sock that sings jingle bells with a "matching" Halloween pumpkin sock. (By the way, Scott and I weren't sure which Spanish word is correct... medias or calcetines?) I thought they looked nice together. But I did decide when I entered to great expanse of BYU that I would finally match my socks. So I wore white ankle socks. White ankle socks match! No matter what brand they are... at least they're the same color and the same height!

But that's not good enough for Scott. He was very frustrated with me during our moving process. He has a fear of unmatched socks. I told him ten years of owning all these socks, and not managing to have any two socks that match, is a HUGE accomplishment. He didn't agree, however.

Alright... the tradition stands... I couldn't get our video to work. I never can! But Scott can, so unless anyone out there in the blog world wants to fill me in on whatever I'm doing wrong, I'll ask Scott to post the video when he gets home tonight!

MOVING DAY(S)...

I was delusional before. I have realized that every day this past week has been "Moving Day." Evidently, every day of this week will be "Moving Day" as well.

And Happy Ten months, Scotty!

MOVING DAY!!

There's so much coming up!

1. We're MOVING! We're staying in the Aves, but we are moving. So I've spent the last few days boxing up all of our stuff and cleaning out our new kitchen with my mom, getting it ready. We're so excited to get all settled and have people over! Now they'll be able to come in and hang out without having to walk in through our bedroom, and they'll also be able to use the bathroom with the door CLOSED instead of cracked open with the faucet turned on so they can feel like no one can hear them. Oh geez.... what wonderful memories have filled this last year (This is the longest I have lived in one place since my senior year of high school).

2. Scott's wrapping things up at UW to transition into Goldman. We're so excited to make the switch next week!!! I think the change is long overdue. And Goldman opens so many doors for Scotty with school and progressing in his job. It'll be fun for him to have a change in scene and be working with Andrew, too. Fun changes in the works.

3. I'm taking such fun classes! "Writing for Children and Adolescents" and "Studies in Poetry" It's so nice to take the time to write... and I don't need to feel guilty about it because I'm doing it for a class!!!

4. Scott's still doing his GMAT classes. Lately we've been having those days where we walk in the door when it's dark out and we crash minutes later. Last night we actually got a chance to sit and talk for about five minutes before we crashed! It was so great to actually be able to spend some time talking to my husband!!

5. Scott and I have Thanksgiving on Sunday. Ha ha ha.. My family is going to be all over for the actual holiday. So we're doing it this Sunday. Scott and I will probably spend the actual Thanksgiving up at the cabin with John and Jana's family. I'm actually really excited about this! Scott will have to work on the Friday after Thanksgiving, but I'll probably stay and hang out with the Biltons. We love spending time with them, and it's nice to have at least a small part of Scotty's family so close. Either way... it's great to have two Thanksgivings!!!!! Especially since Thanksgiving is my FAVORITE holiday!

LA COCINA

I know Scott and I are a long long long long long long way away from having a home anything remotely close to something like this. But this is my new dream kitchen. Is it weird that I'm planning things like this in my mind??? I just love all the white. and I LOVE the giant square shelf.

TACO!

This is our new cat!!! We named him Taco!

He scurried into our lives (aka... into our apartment) a couple of days ago. He has frequented our home enough times that we have gifted him with a plate of milk as an offering of friendship. We hope he chooses to live with us, instead of next door with the four year old girl who actually sounds and acts much like a cat herself. She wants to name the cat Snowball. That's lame. And it's predictable. Scott thinks the cat will have an identity crisis.

Fact is... we don't know where he came from. But he's here. The first time he came over, he walked right in, and we couldn't really do anything about it. Now he waits outside our door and greets us when we come home from work! The greatest part is that Scotty and I now have a kitty (it's a kitten, not a cat... when it's a cat... I'll hate it), but the woman (mother o' catkid) has purchased all the essentials. Litterbox (in HER kitchen). Cat food (we simply part with a smidge of milk). And the cat sleeps at her home (because Scott said he drew the line at the strange, wandering cat sitting/sleeping/walking/licking itself on or anywhere near our bed.... I guess I can understand that. But we have a neighborhood cat!!!! Wahoo! Oh, I wasn't savy enough with the camera to catch our kitty sipping with glee from the milk dish, but he goes right to the spot where it usually sits. Yay for Taco!

I forgot to mention that Scott looks like a little Elf.

And to Margy and Oliver, who just decided to up and fly to Bermuda... LAME! We need to coordinate with these trips... go together.... and pick a place that works for all of us. You guys could have spent Spring break with us in Vernal. Except they closed the dinosaur stuff... so Vernal may have lost its appeal. We could have gone to BAKERSFIELD! Just kidding. How fun! You guys deserve a good trip! I hope you have a wonderful trip! Can't wait to hear all about it... send us pictures!

So Scott and I are finally starting to get situated in our new place.

We have the habit down of referring to our house as the "Fancy, Bavarian, Romantic, Tudor, Log Cabin House just west of Ronald MacDonald." This is to cover our bets that whomever we're talking to will know our place by one of these clever descriptions.

I'm finally remembering that my last name is Hannay. Ha ha... I do have a dumb story though. I haven't told Scotty this yet... but I was given a name of a woman in our neighborhood to get in contact with, so I called her and introduced myself. "Hi this is Lindsey Hansen." Lindsey HANSEN! I got my own last name wrong! I think I was debating in my mind whether I was Lindsey Hannay or Lindsey Petersen.... So I'm Lindsey Hansen. Uggh. I'm so dumb.

We've hit the point where it's no longer exciting to have mail in our box when it says "To Current Resident" on it. At first we were just happy to get anything.

We had Matt and Laurel over. Our first guests! Once they left we celebrated our successful first go around.

We've found the right consistency of blankets to cover us at night so Scott's not hot, and I'm not cold. This balance involves the fuzzy blanket being at the foot of the bed. I don't even use it! But knowing it's at the foot of the bed fools me into thinking I'm warm enough, lulling me into a false sense of security for my slumber.

We don't have a kitchen trash can. And our TV might sit on a cooler forever. But we have a blog. This fact alone affirms our status as married and settled, I think.

We're MARRIED now!

We're two days into married life and loving it! It's been a lot of fun. Our wedding day was perfect! We couldn't have asked for better January winter weather; it was sunny and a nice temperature so I was able to take pictures outside without a coat. When Scott came up to the house, he brought some naked juices, and we hung out (with David!) until it was time to go to the temple. The whole temple experience was absolutely perfect and completely different from what I expected to day to be like. I felt good the entire time. Being in the temple with Scott made me unbelievably happy, and it was the perfect way to start our life together as husband and wife. Everything after the temple was just an added bonus! We really appreciate our close friends and family who attended our ceremony and met us outside the temple afterward. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful people in our lives who were there to celebrate with us. Neither one of us has ever been so happy! From there we went to our reception and snuck some dinner before anybody showed up, which was a good thing, because we didn't make it to the food table once after the guests arrived! But we had so much fun greeting the people who came to celebrate with us! Thank you to everyone who was there, and we hope we got a chance to see and catch up with everybody. Our reception was at the new humanities building at the University of Utah. It was perfect. It was fun and casual, and I know I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Scott and I feel lucky to have had such a fun party to end the day. We enjoyed good food from Tony Caputos, and we had the best cake I’ve ever eaten, which is a triumph, since wedding cake often tastes like cardboard with a waxy outer coating. Since the wedding, we’ve had fun making our apartment feel like home! We are still furniture-less, but we came home to a full and festive fridge, thanks to my parents, who snuck in and stocked our kitchen with all the essentials (most importantly, Cap’n Crunch). Scott and I are so blessed to have wonderful parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who made our wedding so special. We’re especially grateful and appreciative to our parents, who have invested so much in the occasion. We take off on Tuesday for Santa Barbara, where we get to do the reception all over again, but with a different crowd of Scott’s biggest fans. From there, we’re off to Costa Rica!
